"A Special item: Muhammad Ali"
One of the most iconic features of vintage American T-shirts is the "Tubular Body" construction. Since this method eliminates the need for side seams, it was the gold standard for mass production in the USA during the mid-20th century.
However, as times changed and the demand for more varied sizing grew, side-seam construction eventually became the industry norm.
To faithfully recreate the authentic spirit of that era, we developed our 【TUBE T-shirt】 series.
Crafted from 16-count BD (Open-End) yarn, these shirts feature a seamless tubular body and a distinctive faded texture achieved through pigment dyeing.
This season, the series has been renewed with a new silhouette: "Roomy."
By utilizing the largest diameter tubular knitting machines currently operational in Japan, we’ve created a relaxed, effortless fit that honors traditional craftsmanship while meeting modern styling needs. Focusing on “Muhammad Ali,” widely regarded as the greatest champion in boxing history, this special item is expressed as a rare photo T-shirt for BARNS OUTFITTERS.

"Muhammad Ali"
Muhammad Ali was more than a heavyweight champion; he was one of the most significant icons of the 20th century, wielding immense influence over sports, politics, and social justice. His legendary fighting style—defined by lightning-fast footwork and jabs—gave birth to the timeless phrase: "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee." Beyond the ring, his unwavering commitment to his beliefs, including his conversion to Islam and his refusal of the draft, made him a central figure in the era's counterculture.
This tribute features high-definition inkjet printing in a striking monochrome, punctuated by bold red lettering.
For the neckline, we’ve utilized a "Tako-binder" (self-fabric neck tape). This not only preserves the historical aesthetic but also reinforces the collar, preventing it from stretching over time—a thoughtful improvement on the original design.
A seamless tubular body of this magnitude is a rare find indeed. Its airy, relaxed fit makes it an absolute essential for those sweltering summer days.
The fabric is knitted in a seamless 'tubular' shape, which we use exactly as it comes off the machine. Because there are no side seams, the shirt feels incredibly soft against the skin, offering a stress-free wearing experience.
Recreating the spirit of vintage USA tees with crisp 16-count BD yarn. The pigment-dyed fabric offers a beautiful faded look that gets even better over time. Enjoy the unique aging process as the color mellows with every wear.
