"Beat the heat without losing the grit"
While BARNS OUTFITTERS is widely celebrated for its heavy-duty, rugged fabrics, we’ve taken a softer, more breathable approach for the height of the Japanese summer. This season brings the return of our specially developed lightweight jersey, utilizing a 20-count single yarn. Though finer than our standard heavy knits, it sits in a perfectly substantial, mid-weight category that provides excellent structure without the weight. Treated with our signature pigment dye, this custom body features a premium blend of semi-combed cotton yarn. By mixing long and short fibers, it achieves a beautifully natural, textured grain and a crisp, dry touch. This design embraces a quintessential Americana aesthetic, featuring an iconic, college-style varsity layout centered around a bold bulldog mascot.

"LET ME HOWL"
Every Americana enthusiast has, at least once, donned a classic college logo piece. This timeless staple traces its roots back to the 1920s and 30s, when the elite Ivy League universities in the northeastern U.S. crafted athletic gear to be sold at campus bookstores. Central to this culture was the team mascot—oftentimes powerful animals or historic figures—which grew to define each school’s unique identity and colors. For this release, we’ve centered the design around a ferocious, roaring bulldog, capturing that vintage varsity energy. To ensure a cohesive feel with the fabric, we’ve tailored the printing techniques by colorway: utilizing a faded washout print for White, Sax Blue, and Greige, while opting for a premium half-rubber print on the Black body.
The neckline features a clean, simple binder neck construction, engineered to withstand heavy, long-term wear.
Cut with a perfectly relaxed fit, this piece is masterfully balanced to look great on its own or layered effortlessly under a shirt or cardigan.
By adjusting the length and width to create a boxier silhouette, this piece combines with the distinct fabric texture to maximize airflow, offering a refreshingly dry and comfortable feel.
Finished with single-stitch hems on the sleeves and bottom—a highly coveted detail that vintage enthusiasts will truly appreciate.
By utilizing a 20-count semi-combed cotton yarn, this fabric achieves a beautifully natural, textured grain and a crisp, dry-touch feel. Except for the classic white, all colorways are treated with a pigment dye, creating a distinctive, faded character that mirrors the aura of true, authentic vintage. As you wear and wash it over time, the dye will gradually and beautifully recede, allowing you to experience a rich, personalized aging process that transforms this piece into a truly one-of-a-kind garment.
