"An iconic piece that represents BARNS OUTFITTERS."
When discussing the identity of BARNS OUTFITTERS, it is impossible to overlook our "Tsuri-ami" (loopwheel) collection.
Crafted in Wakayama Prefecture using rare knitting machines from a century ago, this fabric is knit slowly and carefully to let the cotton breathe.
The result is a signature texture—exquisitely soft, with a unique tension that feels as though it is gently embracing your body.
Among our lineup, the "Tsuri-tenjiku" T-shirt series stands as our definitive Spring/Summer masterpiece.
A design inspired by that iconic oil company well known for its presence in motorsports sponsorship.

"The Iconic Racing Spirit of the '60s & '70s"
Since its debut last year, this design has quickly become a fan favorite, consistently drawing admiration for its nostalgic energy.
The inspiration comes from one of the most celebrated racing aesthetics in history—the legendary orange and light blue team colors that sponsored Ford and Porsche race teams during the 1960s and ’70s.
Designed to take center stage in your high-summer wardrobe, we’ve added a clean, collegiate-style logo to the back for a balanced, athletic look.
To ensure an authentic vintage feel, we utilized a "water-based soak-in" (Shimikomi) print.
This technique allows the ink to blend deep into the fabric fibers, creating a soft, breathable texture that only gets better with every wash.

The neck is a binder neck, which is sewn across the body as seen in vintage models. This is a specification for excellent elasticity and durability, and to be used for many years.

By making the size regular, the characteristics of the hang-knit fabric can be felt to the maximum extent, achieving an eternal standard that is not affected by time.

The loop-wheel knitting(TSURIAMI) machine is a machine that knits fabric in a tubular shape. As a result, the fabric is seamlessly finished with no side seams, known as a "round body" design. This tubular body makes it difficult to adjust the size, so careful adjustments were made to the angle of the sleeve attachment, sleeve width, and the line that follows the body from the shoulder to the upper arm. By fine-tuning the sleeve width, a universally flattering silhouette was achieved, creating a well-proportioned fit that looks great even when worn as a single layer. While adopting vintage-inspired design elements, the garment features a timeless silhouette, making it easy to wear both tucked in or out.
*Please note that the 2XL size comes with side seams.

Uneven yarns made from American cotton are used, which have more fluff than ordinary yarns to retain a dry, crisp texture. The softness and rough texture are created by knitting the fabric slowly so that the yarn contains air.

"TSURIAMI"
The Loopwheel Machine — a relic from the Taisho era, developed nearly a century ago in Japan. Suspended from beams, this unique knitting machine lets fabric fall and gather under its own weight as it is slowly and gently knit. Producing just 10 meters of fabric per day, the loopwheel method was deemed inefficient and gradually phased out in favor of faster sinker machines. Today, only a handful remain — fragile, difficult to maintain, and with spare parts nearly impossible to find. Their days are numbered. Yet, there is nothing quite like the fabric they produce. By knitting slowly and with minimal tension, the result is a soft, resilient texture that holds air, stretches naturally, and drapes beautifully. It's a feel only loopwheel knitting can offer — a rare quality that BARNS OUTFITTERS has continued to honor through its timeless staples.
