"A New Series Built on the Boxy Silhouette"
From the late 1980s through the 1990s, brands embedded in street, hip-hop, and skate culture?where oversized fits reigned supreme?began introducing pieces with clean, box-like square cuts. Combining a generous profile with a tailored drape that never looks sloppy, this refined balance was soon embraced by luxury fashion and designer houses alike.
Now that broad oversized fits have become a modern standard, this boxy silhouette offers familiar comfort while delivering an effortless, relaxed aesthetic. Designed with a graffiti-style overlay layered on top of photography depicting the streetscapes of 1970s and 1980s New York City.

"New York Streetscapes & Iconic Soundtracks"
Captured in dramatic monochrome, this photo features the gritty streets of Midtown Manhattan during the 1970s and 1980s. Unlike today, New York in this era was notorious for high crime rates and urban decay. Yet amidst this chaotic backdrop, the low rents and lawless energy drew together young creatives and artists, turning the city into the undisputed birthplace of modern street culture.
Layered over this raw street scene is a hand-lettered phrase inspired by an iconic track from a Nobel Prize-winning singer-songwriter. Printed via crisp inkjet technology to ensure the photograph's tonal depth and fine details shine through.
The collar is finished with a self-fabric shoulder-to-shoulder neck tape. This covers the interior seam allowance to prevent skin irritation while reinforcing the neckline against stretching over time?a classic construction detail heavily featured on 1990s and 2000s vintage graphic tees.
Cut with generous width through the chest and shoulders, this relaxed silhouette creates a natural, easy drop at the shoulder?delivering an effortless, laid-back look.
Hitting the sweet spot between lightweight and heavy, this versatile fabric works perfectly whether worn on its own or layered under a jacket. It's a year-round essential you can comfortably wear from late summer through the cooler months. Blacke colorways feature BARNS OUTFITTERS signature pigment-dyeing process?allowing the piece to develop a rich, personalized vintage fade over time.
