"Our Fan-Favorite Basque Shirt: Back as a Web-Store Exclusive"
The heavy-weight Basque shirt, a consistent favorite for the Spring/Summer season, returns this year with a significant fabric upgrade—and it is available exclusively through our official online store.
For the 2026 collection, we have developed a unique, original fabric using 10-count yarn.
To put that in perspective, this yarn is typically reserved for sweatshirts rather than T-shirts, resulting in one of the heaviest jersey fabrics in our lineup.
While it maintains the classic, clean silhouette of a traditional Basque shirt, the material feels like a hybrid between a T-shirt and a sweatshirt.
This ensures the rugged durability that BARNS OUTFITTERS is known for, standing up to rough, daily wear without losing its shape.
The "crisp" texture and substantial body make it an indispensable piece for three seasons of the year, providing just the right amount of warmth and structure.
To maximize its versatility, we have opted for solid, monochromatic colors this season, moving away from patterns to offer a sophisticated look that pairs with anything in your wardrobe.
Shop the long-sleeve version of the same style here.

"Military-Inspired Details"
True to the BARNS OUTFITTERS philosophy of crafting rugged, durable gear, our Basque shirt incorporates functional details rooted in naval history.
We have utilized the "overlap shoulder"—a double-layered fabric construction frequently found in vintage military garments designed for the Navy.
This reinforcement was originally engineered to withstand the friction and weight of heavy gear.
In a modern context, it makes the shirt exceptionally resistant to wear and tear from carrying backpacks or shoulder bags in your daily life.
The relaxed silhouette features sleeves attached almost vertically to the body, a construction designed to enhance mobility.
This pattern is also a distinctive detail commonly found in military garments.
The neckline features a boat neck that isn’t overly wide.
It strikes a perfect balance—offering a relaxed feel without looking sloppy.
The double-stitched seams also add durability for a tough finish.
The side slits are typically designed to assist with ease of movement and dressing, but on this piece they are incorporated primarily as a design accent.
The fabric is tightly knit using No. 10 yarn, creating a tough construction that stays durable even with rough, everyday wear—true to the BARNS OUTFITTERS spirit.
With its dry texture and breathable feel that stays off the skin, it remains comfortable even during the warmer, sweatier months of spring and summer.
